Turnberry is a detached property in Glasgow’s West End, a substantial period villa taken on for a private client and brought back to life as a refined family home. The brief was to respect the character of the original building while creating something genuinely comfortable for everyday family life.

The external programme was significant. Heavy road and ground works were undertaken to settle the approach and surrounds, alongside considered stone repairs to the original blonde sandstone facade. A full window replacement programme reinstated traditional sash and case profiles, and the roof was renewed to give the building a sound, watertight envelope for decades to come.

Internally, the villa was extensively reconfigured and refurbished to a luxury family standard. Layouts were quietly reworked to suit modern living, services were brought up to current expectations, and the original detailing was protected and refined throughout. The finished home reads as effortless rather than overworked, which is exactly the brief the client set.

Completed in the summer of 2020, this project to convert and extend an aged barn into a swimming pool and bar area for a private client was one of the most significant transformations we have delivered.

Our client engaged a full design team to develop and realise their vision for the property, taking disused space, then extending and transforming it into a private pool house complete with a refined bar area, all while maximising the open outlook across the Lanarkshire countryside.
